Since our inception, Jury Selection Services has been dedicated to providing a bespoke service to trial counsel.
With nothing but the limited information provided by the Court, you never really know who is on the jury. The Crown has significantly more resources, and with those resources, access to significantly more information about who is in the jury pool.
Our focus is to ensure the scales of justice are balanced. The virtue of juries is to represent a cross section of the community, however, we know that there are sections of the community that should not serve as jurors in particular trials. The vast majority of the jury pool is likely to use the internet and participate in social media. Almost everyone has a digital footprint, with information publicly available giving an insight to their interests, relationsips and affiliations. Some have extreme views readily published for the world to see.
The ability to challenge with cause is significantly watered down by counsel who simply do not look. We only have four challenges without cause, and those are by and large excercised with no objective criteria, but an instinct based on broad stereotypes that is more akin to art than science. We change that. Knowledge is power, and armed with a digital profile of each member of the jury pool, counsel can challenge with cause where previously jurors who should not be there would race to take their seat.
